Fiji and Pacific Islands eSIM for Indians (2026): Tahiti to Guam

A Fiji eSIM for Indians is simple to set up, but the rest of the Pacific is uneven: some islands share one regional plan, some cost several times more, and on a few your Jio pack or a local SIM is the better buy. Here is what works where, so a honeymoon or dive trip does not end with a roaming bill.

Which plan covers which island

Prices side by side

Fiji also has 1 GB for 7 days (₹299) and 3 GB (₹849), 10 GB (₹2,599) or 20 GB (₹4,899) for 30 days. Fiji Unlimited, 1 GB a day at full speed then 512 Kbps, is ₹1,899 for 7 days. Oceania 10 GB is ₹3,599 and 7 days of Oceania Unlimited ₹3,199. Short plans cost more: Fiji 5 GB for 7 days is ₹2,999. Prices move daily, so the plan page has today's figure.

Oceania plan or country plans: read the coverage list

Each plan card lists the countries it covers, so never assume a plan for one island works on the next. On 21 October 2026, the Oceania plans covered 8 countries, six of them in this guide, but not Palau, New Caledonia, French Polynesia or Guam.

For Fiji alone, the Fiji plan costs less. For Fiji plus Samoa or Tonga, one Oceania plan costs the same as a single Samoa or Tonga 5 GB plan. In Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu and PNG, the 5 GB and 10 GB country plans cost the same as Oceania; Nauru's cost less. None of this is cheap, and local tourist SIMs often give far more data.

Island by island

Fiji

Our Fiji plans connect to Digicel and Vodafone, and Ookla put Fiji's median mobile download at 73.00 Mbps in December 2025 (57th in the world). Digicel's Nadi Airport shop sells tourist SIMs: FJ$25 for 75 GB over 7 days, FJ$50 for 180 GB over 15 days or FJ$70 for 230 GB over 30 days, with unlimited Digicel calls and SMS. Vodafone sells tourist SIMs at its Nadi Airport outlet, asks for a valid physical passport to register, and also offers a tourist eSIM. For a data-heavy stay, the airport SIM is the better buy.

Samoa

Our Samoa plans connect to Digicel. Digicel Samoa's tourist plans run from WST 15 for 10 GB over 7 days to WST 100 for 80 GB over 28 days, and WST 30 buys 20 GB over 30 days. For more than a few days, that local SIM is the better buy. Samoa's immigration page describes a free 90-day Visitors Permit on arrival; check its conditions before you fly.

Tonga

Our Tonga plans connect to Digicel, and their Unlimited plans slow to 1 Mbps after the daily 1 GB. Tonga is on none of Jio's lists and Jio's rate lookup returns no rates, so Jio may not work there at all; check with Jio first. Airtel's packs cover Tonga. We could not confirm local SIM prices.

Vanuatu

Our Vanuatu plans connect to Digicel. India is on Vanuatu Immigration's list of countries that do not need a visitor visa. Vanuatu is on none of Jio's lists, and Jio's February 2023 rate card charges about ₹600 per MB, ₹150 a minute for calls to India and ₹75 a minute for incoming calls. Airtel's packs cover Vanuatu.

Papua New Guinea

Our PNG plans connect to Digicel. PNG is on none of Jio's lists; without a pack, Jio charges about ₹2 per MB, ₹25 a minute for calls to India and ₹50 a minute for incoming calls. Airtel's packs cover PNG. We could not confirm local SIM prices.

Palau

Palau is where your Jio pack beats us. It is on all of Jio's lists, with a ₹589 one-day pack (1 GB, 100 minutes) and the ₹951 ten-day pack (4 GB, 100 minutes each way), and even without a pack Jio's calls there cost ₹2 a minute. Our Palau plans cost several times more and are not in the Oceania plan. Airtel's packs do not cover Palau, so for Airtel users on a dive trip our plan is the fallback.

Nauru

Our Nauru plans connect to Digicel. Nauru is in the Oceania plan, but its own 5 GB plan costs less. It is on none of Jio's lists and Jio's lookup returns no rates, so check with Jio before you go. Airtel's packs cover Nauru. We could not confirm local SIM prices.

New Caledonia

New Caledonia has the highest eSIMKite prices in this guide, and we do not recommend our plans there. OPT-NC, the territory's post and telecom office, runs mobile service as Helia (our plans list it under its old name, Mobilis). Helia's tourist eSIM is 3,000 F for 15 GB or 5,000 F for 30 GB, both for 30 days with calls; fill in an online form and the QR code arrives by email within 2 hours (6am to 7pm). That is the better buy. Your Indian SIM may not help: Jio returns no rates here, and Airtel's packs do not cover it.

French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora)

Our French Polynesia plans are among the dearest in this guide, so buy only what you need. They connect to Vini, which says it has the largest 4G network there. Vini's Vini Travel Card for visitors works in Tahiti and the islands and is also sold online as an eSIM; we could not check its price, so compare it before you buy ours. French Polynesia is on none of Jio's lists, and at about ₹2 per MB, one GB of pay-as-you-go data costs over two thousand rupees. Airtel's packs do not cover it.

Guam

Guam is the other place where Jio costs less than us: it is on all of Jio's lists, so the ₹951 ten-day pack works there. Jio's USA, Mexico and Canada packs do not cover Guam; their terms name only the USA, Mexico, the US Virgin Islands, Canada, Puerto Rico and Australia. Airtel's packs cover Guam too. Our Guam plans connect to IT&E and GTA and are not in the Oceania plan.

Bank OTPs, WhatsApp and UPI

A travel eSIM is data only. Keep your Indian SIM in the phone as the second line, so your number, WhatsApp account and bank SMS stay with it. More in keeping WhatsApp and bank OTPs working abroad.

• Jio: the ₹951 pack in Palau and Guam includes 25 SMS. In Tonga, Nauru and New Caledonia, Jio returns no rates at all, so bank SMS may not reach a Jio number there; check with Jio before you fly.
• Airtel prepaid: packs cover seven of the ten. Check in the Airtel Thanks app whether you need the ₹118 activation pack (28 days) to receive SMS abroad.
• Airtel postpaid: new plans from ₹499 a month include one free 5-day roaming trip a year with free incoming SMS (since 8 October 2026); Airtel has not listed the countries.
• Vi: check the roaming and SMS rules for your plan in the Vi app.
• WhatsApp: we found no checked reports of app blocks on these islands; it runs over the eSIM's data.
• UPI: merchant payments were not live in Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu, PNG, Palau, Nauru or Guam on 31 August 2026, so carry a card or forex card.

Set it up at home

1. Check your phone takes an eSIM: iPhone XS or newer, Google Pixel 3 or newer, and recent Samsung Galaxy S and Z models. Dial *#06#: if an EID shows, it does.
2. Buy the Fiji, Oceania or island plan you need and scan the QR code on Wi-Fi before you leave India. It takes about two minutes.
3. On most plans the validity starts when the eSIM first connects at your destination, not when you buy or install it.
4. After landing, turn the eSIM line on, switch on data roaming for it, and set it as the line for mobile data.

When a local SIM or roaming is the better choice

Use your Jio pack in Palau and Guam, where the ₹951 ten-day pack costs less than our plans. For many normal calls on your Indian number elsewhere, Airtel's ₹1,298 pack gives 200 minutes over 10 days in seven of the ten places. For calls to India over Wi-Fi, Jio's Wi-Fi calling packs cost ₹121 for 100 minutes or ₹521 for 500 minutes, if your phone supports it.

Buy a local SIM or eSIM for a stay of more than a few days or heavy use: Digicel in Fiji and Samoa, Helia in New Caledonia, and in French Polynesia compare the Vini Travel Card first. Our eSIM helps most when you want data the moment you land, or on a short stopover.
