Open your confirmation email on a laptop or another phone so the camera has something to point at. If the email is on the phone you are installing to, skip to the manual method below.

At home, over Wi-Fi, before you travel — the plan does not start counting until the eSIM first connects at your destination. Pick your phone below and follow along.

On some versions this reads Mobile Service or Mobile Data. Choose “Use QR Code”.
The phone downloads the profile over Wi-Fi. This takes a few seconds and needs a connection — do it before you fly, not after you land.
Call it something you will recognise later, like “Travel”. You can rename it any time.
When asked which line to use for calls and iMessage, choose your usual number. Choose the new travel line for Mobile Data only.
Settings → Cellular → your travel line → Data Roaming. This one is not optional: a travel eSIM is roaming by definition, and with it off you will have no data at all.
If the email is open on the same phone you are installing to, there is nothing for the camera to scan. Every order page shows the details to type instead.
On iPhone choose Enter Details Manually; on Android, Enter it manually.
Find your order by reference
Copy the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your order page exactly as they appear, then tap Next. Over Wi-Fi, as with the QR code.
Your eSIM does the data. Your home SIM keeps your number for calls, SMS and bank OTPs. Tick them off as you go.
The things that actually go wrong, and how to fix each one. Still stuck? We're one message away.
Turn Airplane Mode on for ten seconds and off again. If nothing, check Data Roaming is ON for the travel line, then choose the network manually — Settings → the travel line → Network Selection → off automatic, and pick an operator from the list.
Almost always Wi-Fi. The download needs a working connection. It can also mean the profile has already been installed once — a QR code can only be used a single time.
Use the manual details instead. Your order page shows the SM-DP+ address and activation code, which you type in under “Enter details manually”.
Check the APN if your plan came with one. Your order page shows it where the supplier specifies one; most plans need nothing here.
Yes, and you should. Install over Wi-Fi at home while you still have a connection you trust. The plan does not begin until the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination.
Yes, on the eSIM line. It connects to a local network by roaming, so without Data Roaming it gets no data. Keep Data Roaming switched off on your home SIM, so that line never uses data abroad.
Usually not. A profile can only be installed once, so deleting it consumes it. Write to us with your order reference and we will tell you whether the supplier can reissue that specific profile.
Check spam and promotions first. The eSIM is also on your order page whether or not the email reached you — look it up by reference. If neither works, contact us and we will resend it.
