Picking a Baltic countries eSIM for Indians is simpler than for most of Europe: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are all EU members, and Jio, Airtel and our Europe plans cover all three. The real choice is between one Europe eSIM, a plan for each country, a roaming pack with calls, or a local SIM for a long stay.

Short answer

Yes, one eSIMKite Europe eSIM covers Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania: 10 GB for 30 days costs ₹749, the same as a 10 GB plan for just one of the three, and 5 GB is ₹499. If you stay in one country, its 5 GB plan is ₹399. Jio's 10-day pack (₹951 for 4 GB) and Airtel's (₹1,298 for 6 GB) also cover all three and include calls.

One Europe plan or country plans: read the coverage list

Each regional plan has its own country list, shown on the plan card before you pay. On 21 October 2026, all three Europe plans we checked covered Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania: 5 GB for ₹499 (35 countries), 10 GB for ₹749 (31 countries) and Unlimited for 7 days at ₹1,099 (37 countries). The Global plans, from ₹1,499 for 5 GB over 30 days, cover all three as well, but they cost more unless your trip goes beyond Europe. Our Europe guide lists the countries on each Europe plan.

A country plan costs less only if you stay in one place: 5 GB in Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania is ₹399, against ₹499 for the Europe plan. For two or three countries, one Europe eSIM costs less than two country plans, and you install only one eSIM. At 10 GB, the Europe plan and a single-country plan are both ₹749, so the Europe plan is the easy pick for a Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius trip. Every plan is on the Europe eSIM page.

Country by country

Estonia

Our Estonia plan connects to Elisa, Tele2 and Telia, the country's three networks, and Elisa won Ookla's Fastest 5G and Best 5G awards for 2025. Ookla's September 2026 index put Estonia's median mobile download at 144.82 Mbps, 23rd in the world and the fastest of the three. Estonia uses the euro, and in the ECB's 2024 survey it had the euro area's highest share of online payments by value (50%), while only 25% of payments between people were in cash. Bolt runs in Tallinn, Tartu, Pärnu and 14 other towns. Freedom House rates Estonia's internet 'Free', 91 out of 100.

Latvia

Our Latvia plan connects to LMT, Tele2 and Bite. Ookla's median mobile download was 124.54 Mbps in September 2026, 36th in the world. Latvia uses the euro, and Latvians rarely pay each other in cash: only 23% of person-to-person payments were cash in the ECB's 2024 survey, the second lowest share in the euro area. Bolt runs in Rīga, Jūrmala, Sigulda, Liepāja and 13 other towns. EU open-internet rules apply, so operators may not block or slow apps such as WhatsApp or FaceTime. One difference on our plans: Latvia's Unlimited plans slow to 1 Mbps after the daily 1 GB, against 512 Kbps in Estonia and Lithuania, and cost a little more.

Lithuania

Our Lithuania plan connects to Tele2, Telia and BITĖ. Ookla's median mobile download was 123.23 Mbps in September 2026, 42nd in the world. Lithuania uses the euro, and it had the euro area's highest share of online payments in day-to-day spending (29% by number) in the ECB's 2024 survey. Bolt has the longest Baltic city list here: Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Palanga, Trakai, Nida and 23 other towns. EU open-internet rules apply, so operators may not block or slow WhatsApp or FaceTime calls.

Visa: all three are Schengen members, so Indians need a Schengen short-stay visa, applied for through the country that is your main destination.

Bank OTPs, WhatsApp and UPI

A travel eSIM is data only. Your Indian SIM stays in the phone as the second line, so your number, WhatsApp account and bank SMS stay with it. More in keeping WhatsApp and bank OTPs working abroad.

  • Jio: the ₹951 pack includes 25 SMS and 100 incoming minutes in all three countries. Without a pack, Jio charges ₹10 a minute for calls here, incoming calls included, so check in the MyJio app what receiving SMS costs before you fly.
  • Airtel prepaid: all three countries are on Airtel's list. The IR activation pack costs ₹118 for 28 days at standard charges; check in the Airtel Thanks app whether you need it to receive SMS abroad.
  • Airtel postpaid: new plans from ₹499 a month (since 8 October 2026) include one free 5-day roaming trip a year with 5 GB and free incoming SMS. Airtel has not listed the countries.
  • Vi: check the roaming and SMS rules for your plan in the Vi app.
  • WhatsApp: EU open-internet rules stop operators in Latvia and Lithuania from blocking or slowing apps such as WhatsApp or FaceTime, and Freedom House found few limits in Estonia beyond the EU-wide block on Russian state media.
  • UPI: UPI merchant payments were not live in Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania on 31 August 2026. All three use the euro, so carry a card or forex card.
Avoid bill shock. Without a pack, Jio charges about ₹10 per MB of data in all three countries, so a few photo backups add up fast. Leave data roaming off on your Indian SIM unless you have bought a pack, and set the eSIM as your mobile data line.

Set it up at home

  1. Check your phone takes an eSIM: iPhone XS or newer, Google Pixel 3 or newer, and recent Samsung Galaxy S and Z models. Dial *#06#: if an EID shows, it does.
  2. Buy one Europe plan, or one plan per country, and scan the QR code on Wi-Fi before you leave India. It takes about two minutes.
  3. On most plans the validity starts when the eSIM first connects at your destination, not when you buy or install it.
  4. After landing, turn the eSIM line on, switch on data roaming for it, and set it as the line for mobile data.

Step-by-step pictures for iPhone and Android are in how to install a travel eSIM.

When a local SIM or roaming is the better choice

Choose a Jio or Airtel pack if you will make many normal calls on your Indian number. Jio's ₹951 pack has 100 outgoing and 100 incoming minutes over 10 days, and its longer 100-country packs are ₹1,551 for 14 days (8 GB) and ₹2,851 for 30 days (12 GB). Airtel's ₹1,298 pack has 200 minutes over 10 days. If you mostly call India over Wi-Fi, Jio's Wi-Fi calling packs cost ₹121 for 100 minutes or ₹521 for 500 minutes, if your phone supports Wi-Fi calling.

Choose a local SIM for a long stay, such as a semester at a university in Riga or Vilnius. A local prepaid SIM gives you a Latvian or Lithuanian number, and under the EU's Roam like at home rules a SIM bought in any Baltic country works at home prices across the 27 EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Ukraine and Moldova. The rules do not cover your Indian SIM. A travel eSIM installed at home still helps for the first weeks: you land online, and 20 GB for 30 days is ₹1,399 while you settle in and compare local offers.

Questions

Does Jio work in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania?

Yes. All three are on Jio's 75-, 100- and 132-country pack lists and its data-only list. For a week or so, the 100-country pack is ₹951 for 10 days with 4 GB, 100 outgoing and 100 incoming minutes and 25 SMS. After the 4 GB, data slows to 64 kbps.

Can I use my Indian SIM in the Baltics, and will OTPs arrive?

Yes. Keep the Indian SIM switched on as the second line and bank SMS reach you while the eSIM handles data. Jio and Airtel both list all three countries. Check in your operator's app what receiving SMS costs, and leave data roaming off on the Indian SIM unless you have a pack.

Do I need a SIM card in Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania?

No. A travel eSIM installed at home gives you data when you land, with no physical SIM card to buy. A local SIM makes sense for a long stay, such as a semester at university.

Does the Europe eSIM cover all three Baltic countries?

Yes. On 21 October 2026 the Europe 5 GB (₹499), 10 GB (₹749) and 7-day Unlimited (₹1,099) plans all covered Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Each plan shows its country list before you pay, so check it if your trip continues to other countries.

What SIM should a student get in Riga or Vilnius?

For the first weeks, a travel eSIM keeps you online while you settle in: 20 GB for 30 days is ₹1,399 in Latvia or Lithuania. For a semester or longer, a local prepaid SIM gives you a local number, and under EU rules it also works at home prices in the rest of the EU. Keep your Indian SIM in the phone for bank OTPs.

Is public Wi-Fi good enough in Tallinn?

We could not confirm how good Tallinn's public Wi-Fi is, so do not count on it for maps or Bolt rides on the move. Mobile data is fast: Ookla's median mobile download in Estonia was 144.82 Mbps in September 2026.

Can I share the eSIM as a hotspot?

Usually, yes: hotspot is included on most plans. Connected devices share your plan's data.
