Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg eSIM for Indians (2026): Amsterdam, Brussels, Bruges
One Europe plan or a plan per country for Amsterdam, Brussels and Luxembourg, which plans leave out the Netherlands, and how to keep bank OTPs coming.
A Netherlands and Belgium eSIM for Indians starts with one check: is the Netherlands on the plan's country list? A Jio or Airtel roaming pack and a local prepaid SIM are the other options, and Luxembourg fits on the same Europe plans.
eSIMKite's Europe 5 GB (₹499 for 30 days), Europe 10 GB (₹999) and Europe Unlimited (₹1,099 for 7 days) plans include the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, but our 31-country Europe 10 GB plan at ₹749 leaves out the Netherlands, so check the plan card. If you visit only one country, a country plan costs less: 5 GB for 30 days is ₹399 in each. Jio's ₹951 pack (4 GB, 10 days) and Airtel's ₹1,298 pack (6 GB, 10 days) cover all three, with calls included.
Which plan covers which country
| Country | eSIMKite country plan, 5 GB, 30 days | In our regional plans? | Jio packs | Airtel packs | UPI |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Netherlands | ₹399 | Europe and Global, but not Europe 10 GB at ₹749 | All lists | Yes | No |
| Belgium | ₹399 | Europe and Global | All lists | Yes | No |
| Luxembourg | ₹399 | Europe and Global | All lists | Yes | No |
eSIMKite prices and plan lists from esimkite.com, 21 Oct 2026; regional plans are those priced in this guide. 'All lists': Jio's 75-, 100- and 132-country and data-only packs (Jio pack list, read 21 Oct 2026). Airtel covered-countries page, read 21 Oct 2026. UPI from BusinessLine, 31 Aug 2026.
One Europe plan or country plans: read the coverage list on each plan card
Each regional plan has its own country list, shown on the plan card before you pay. On 21 October 2026, the Europe 5 GB (₹499) and 10 GB (₹999) plans, for 30 days across 35 countries, and Europe Unlimited (₹1,099 for 7 days, 37 countries) covered the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. So did the 100-country Global 5 GB (₹1,499) and 10 GB (₹2,599) plans. But the 31-country Europe 10 GB plan at ₹749 covered Belgium and Luxembourg, not the Netherlands, and the Netherlands was missing from other Europe plans that day too. If Amsterdam is on your route, find the Netherlands on the list before you pay; lists can change.
For one country, a 5 GB country plan at ₹399 costs less than the ₹499 Europe plan. For two or three countries, one Europe plan costs less than two country plans and means one eSIM. For a week of heavy use across borders, Europe Unlimited is ₹1,099, against ₹599 for 7 days of Unlimited in the Netherlands alone. Every plan and its list is on the Europe eSIM page.

Country by country
Netherlands
Our Netherlands plan connects to KPN and Vodafone, and Ookla puts the median mobile download at 159.99 Mbps (18th in the world, September 2026), the fastest of the three countries. Vodafone's Dutch prepaid SIM or eSIM is free, with top-ups from EUR 5. Its Unlimited bundles give unlimited data in the Netherlands for EUR 14 for 7 days, EUR 24 for 14 days or EUR 44 for 30 days, with 25 to 60 GB usable elsewhere in the EU, and they stop automatically. The Netherlands has the lowest cash use in the euro area: cash is only 22% of shop payments and cards 56% (ECB), so carry a card. Freedom House rates the country 'Free' (84 out of 100), with no blocks on networks or social media.
Belgium
Our Belgium plan connects to Base, Orange and Proximus; the median download is 144.32 Mbps (Ookla, 24th). BASE prepaid top-ups are valid 30 days in Belgium and Europe: EUR 10 for 1 GB, 40 minutes and 250 texts, EUR 15 for 4 GB and 60 minutes, or EUR 25 for 8 GB and 100 minutes, all with unlimited calls to BASE numbers. Prepaid customers can also pick a EUR 12 monthly plan with 15 GB. One thing to know: Belgium is card-first, with cards at 53% of shop payments, and 23% of Belgians find it hard to get cash, the highest share in the euro area (ECB).
Luxembourg
Our Luxembourg plan connects to Orange, POST and Tango and costs ₹399 for 5 GB over 30 days, the same as Belgium. Every Europe and Global plan priced in this guide includes Luxembourg, the ₹749 Europe 10 GB plan among them. Without a pack, Jio charges about ₹2 per MB of data, as in its neighbours, but ₹5 a minute for calls, against ₹2 in the Netherlands and Belgium. One thing only Luxembourg has: all public transport, including buses, trains and the tram, has been free since 2020 for residents and visitors alike.
All three countries are in the Schengen area, so Indians need a Schengen visa; for the Netherlands, apply through the official NetherlandsWorldwide visa pages.
Bank OTPs, WhatsApp and UPI
A travel eSIM is data only. Your Indian SIM stays in the phone as the second line, so your number, WhatsApp account and bank SMS stay with it. More in keeping WhatsApp and bank OTPs working abroad.
- Jio: the ₹951 pack includes 25 SMS in all three countries. Without a pack, Jio charges ₹2 a minute for calls in the Netherlands and Belgium, incoming included, and ₹5 a minute in Luxembourg. Check in the MyJio app what receiving SMS costs before you fly.
- Airtel prepaid: the IR activation pack costs ₹118 for 28 days at standard charges; check in the Airtel Thanks app whether you need it to receive SMS abroad.
- Airtel postpaid: new plans from ₹499 a month (since 8 October 2026) include one free 5-day roaming trip a year with 5 GB and free incoming SMS. Airtel has not listed the countries.
- Vi: check the roaming and SMS rules for your plan in the Vi app.
- WhatsApp: EU open-internet rules stop operators in Belgium and Luxembourg from blocking or slowing apps such as WhatsApp and FaceTime, and Freedom House found no social media blocks in the Netherlands. None of the three has a known app block.
- UPI: UPI merchant payments were not live in any of the three on 31 August 2026, so carry a card or forex card.
Set it up at home
- Check your phone takes an eSIM: iPhone XS or newer, Google Pixel 3 or newer, and recent Samsung Galaxy S and Z models. Dial *#06#: if an EID shows, it does.
- Buy one regional plan, or one plan per country, and scan each QR code on Wi-Fi before you leave India. It takes about two minutes per eSIM.
- On most plans the validity starts when the eSIM first connects at your destination, not when you buy or install it.
- After landing, turn the eSIM line on, switch on data roaming for it, and set it as the line for mobile data.
Step-by-step pictures for iPhone and Android are in how to install a travel eSIM.
When a local SIM or roaming is the better choice
Choose a Jio or Airtel pack if you will make many normal calls on your Indian number: Jio's ₹951 pack has 100 outgoing and 100 incoming minutes over 10 days, and Airtel's ₹1,298 pack has 200 minutes. For only a few calls, Jio's pay-as-you-go rate of ₹2 a minute in the Netherlands and Belgium costs little, as long as data roaming stays off. If you mostly call India over Wi-Fi, Jio's Wi-Fi calling packs cost ₹121 for 100 minutes or ₹521 for 500, if your phone supports Wi-Fi calling. See Jio vs Airtel vs Vi roaming packs.
Choose a local SIM for a long stay. Vodafone's Dutch bundle at EUR 44 gives unlimited data in the Netherlands for 30 days, and BASE in Belgium offers a EUR 12 monthly plan with 15 GB. Under the EU's Roam like at home rules, a SIM from any of the three works across the 27 EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Ukraine and Moldova at home prices, within fair-use limits; the rules do not cover your Indian SIM.
Questions
Does Jio work in the Netherlands and Belgium?
Yes. The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg are on all of Jio's pack lists; the 10-day ₹951 pack gives 4 GB, 100 outgoing and 100 incoming minutes and 25 SMS. Without a pack, Jio charges about ₹2 per MB of data in all three.
Which Europe eSIM plans include the Netherlands?
On 21 October 2026, our Europe 5 GB (₹499), Europe 10 GB (₹999) and Europe Unlimited (₹1,099 for 7 days) plans did, along with Belgium and Luxembourg. The 31-country Europe 10 GB plan at ₹749 did not, and nor did some other Europe plans, so find the Netherlands on the plan card's country list before you pay.
Can I use my Indian SIM in the Netherlands and still get bank OTPs?
Yes. Keep it switched on as the second line and bank SMS reach you while the eSIM handles data. Check in your operator's app what receiving SMS costs, and leave data roaming off on the Indian SIM unless you have a pack.
Do I need a SIM card at Schiphol?
No. A travel eSIM installed at home gives you data when you land, with no physical SIM card. If you stay for months, a Dutch prepaid SIM gives you a local number: Vodafone's is free, with Unlimited bundles from EUR 14 for 7 days.
Which network is best on the Amsterdam-Brussels-Bruges route?
We have no test results for that route. Nationally, Ookla's September 2026 median download was 159.99 Mbps in the Netherlands and 144.32 Mbps in Belgium, both in the world's top 25. Our Netherlands plan connects to KPN and Vodafone, and our Belgium plan to Base, Orange and Proximus.
What should a student buy in the first week?
Install a 30-day plan before you fly so you are online from the airport: 5 GB is ₹399 and 10 GB is ₹749 in the Netherlands. Once settled, compare a Dutch prepaid SIM, such as Vodafone's EUR 44 bundle with unlimited data in the Netherlands for 30 days, if you want a local number.
Does the eSIM cover Luxembourg?
Yes. Every Europe and Global plan priced in this guide includes Luxembourg, and the Luxembourg country plan is ₹399 for 5 GB over 30 days.
Can I share the eSIM as a hotspot?
Usually, yes: hotspot is included on most plans. Connected devices share your plan's data.
