Ireland and the British Isles eSIM for Indians (2026): Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey

An Ireland eSIM for Indians is the easy part of the trip: a 30-day country plan, a Jio or Airtel pack and an Irish prepaid SIM all work in Ireland. The Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey are where those options differ most, and Northern Ireland is part of the UK, not Ireland.

Which plan covers which country

One regional plan or country plans: read the coverage list on each plan card

Each regional plan has its own country list, shown on the plan card before you pay. On 21 October 2026, the 100-country Global 5 GB (₹1,499) and 10 GB (₹2,599) plans covered Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey. Our 41-country Europe plans came in two versions: Europe 5 GB at ₹1,699 and 10 GB at ₹2,899 covered all four, while Europe 5 GB at ₹1,599 and 10 GB at ₹2,699 covered Ireland, the Isle of Man and Jersey, but not Guernsey. Global Unlimited covered all four too, but at ₹12,699 for 7 days it is poor value here.

If you stay mostly in one place, a country plan costs less: Ireland is ₹399 for 5 GB and Jersey ₹499. Guernsey is the exception, because its own 5 GB plan is ₹1,499, the same as Global 5 GB, which also covers Ireland and the other two islands. A UK plan is for the UK: do not count on it for the Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey, which each have their own plan with us. The Europe lists are on the Europe eSIM page.

In Ireland, plans start at 1 GB for 7 days for ₹99; 3 GB is ₹299, 20 GB ₹1,399 and 50 GB ₹3,299, each for 30 days. Unlimited gives 1 GB a day at full speed, then 512 Kbps: ₹299 for 3 days, ₹449 for 5, ₹599 for 7, ₹849 for 10, ₹1,299 for 15 and ₹2,299 for 30. Place by place

Ireland

Our Ireland plan connects to Three (3), Eir and Vodafone, and Ookla puts the median mobile download at 75.03 Mbps (61st in the world, September 2026). eir's prepay offers start at EUR 10 per 28 days with calls, texts and unlimited 5G data; you opt in by texting a plan code to 50104, and eir says its 5G reaches 99% of the population. Without an offer, eir charges EUR 1.99 a day for up to 100 MB. Phone payments are common: Ireland is one of three euro-area countries where they pass 10% of shop payments (ECB). Ireland is not in Schengen, so a Schengen visa does not cover it; see the official British Irish Visa Scheme page if you will also visit the UK.

Isle of Man

The Isle of Man is on all the Europe and Global plans priced in this guide. Our Isle of Man plan lists Pronto GSM as its network and costs ₹199 for 1 GB over 7 days or ₹749 for 5 GB over 30 days. Unlimited at 1 GB a day, then 384 Kbps, is ₹1,099 for 7 days, and a plan with no daily cap is ₹649 for 1 day or ₹3,099 for 7 days. No Jio pack covers the Isle of Man, and Jio's pay-as-you-go rates there are its highest: about ₹600 per MB of data, ₹150 a minute for calls to India and ₹75 a minute for incoming calls. Airtel lists the island for its packs, so check the price in the Airtel Thanks app.

Jersey

Jersey is on all the Europe and Global plans priced in this guide. Our Jersey plan connects to JT and costs ₹149 for 1 GB over 7 days, ₹499 for 5 GB over 30 days, or ₹649 for 7 days of Unlimited (1 GB a day at full speed, then 384 Kbps). Unlike the Isle of Man, Jersey is on all of Jio's pack lists, so the ₹951 10-day pack (4 GB, 100 minutes each way) works there. Activate it before you land: without a pack, Jio charges the same rates as on the Isle of Man, about ₹600 per MB and ₹150 a minute for calls to India. Airtel also lists Jersey.

Guernsey

Guernsey is where a regional plan pays off. Our Guernsey plan connects to Sure and JT but costs ₹1,499 for 5 GB over 30 days, the same as Global 5 GB, which also covers Ireland, the Isle of Man and Jersey. The smallest Guernsey plan is ₹449 for 1 GB over 7 days. Remember that the ₹1,599 and ₹2,699 Europe plans leave Guernsey out. Jio lists Guernsey only for its 100-country packs (₹951 for 10 days, ₹1,551 for 14 days or ₹2,851 for 30 days), not for its 75- or 132-country packs or data-only packs, even though Jersey is on all four. Without a pack it charges about ₹600 per MB. Airtel lists Guernsey for its packs.

Bank OTPs, WhatsApp and UPI

A travel eSIM is data only. Your Indian SIM stays in the phone as the second line, so your number, WhatsApp account and bank SMS stay with it. More in keeping WhatsApp and bank OTPs working abroad.

• Jio: the ₹951 pack includes 25 SMS in Ireland, Jersey and Guernsey. On the Isle of Man, where no Jio pack applies, Jio lists SMS at ₹25 each; check in the MyJio app what receiving SMS costs before you fly.
• Airtel prepaid: the IR activation pack costs ₹118 for 28 days at standard charges; check in the Airtel Thanks app whether you need it to receive SMS abroad.
• Airtel postpaid: new plans from ₹499 a month (since 8 October 2026) include one free 5-day roaming trip a year with 5 GB and free incoming SMS. Airtel has not listed the countries.
• Vi: check the roaming and SMS rules for your plan in the Vi app.
• WhatsApp: in Ireland, EU open-internet rules stop operators from blocking or slowing apps such as WhatsApp and FaceTime. Our sources do not cover app rules on the three islands.
• UPI: UPI merchant payments were not live in Ireland or on any of the three islands on 31 August 2026, so carry a card or forex card.

Set it up at home

1. Check your phone takes an eSIM: iPhone XS or newer, Google Pixel 3 or newer, and recent Samsung Galaxy S and Z models. Dial *#06#: if an EID shows, it does.
2. Buy one regional plan, or one plan per country, and scan each QR code on Wi-Fi before you leave India. It takes about two minutes per eSIM.
3. On most plans the validity starts when the eSIM first connects at your destination, not when you buy or install it.
4. After landing, turn the eSIM line on, switch on data roaming for it, and set it as the line for mobile data.

When a local SIM or roaming is the better choice

Choose a Jio or Airtel pack if you will make many normal calls on your Indian number: Jio's ₹951 pack has 100 outgoing and 100 incoming minutes over 10 days in Ireland, Jersey and Guernsey, and Airtel's ₹1,298 pack has 200 minutes and lists all four places. If you mostly call India over Wi-Fi, Jio's Wi-Fi calling packs cost ₹121 for 100 minutes or ₹521 for 500, if your phone supports Wi-Fi calling. See Jio vs Airtel vs Vi roaming packs.

Choose a local SIM for a long stay in Ireland, such as a course or a job. eir's prepay offers start at EUR 10 per 28 days with calls, texts and unlimited 5G data, and under the EU's Roam like at home rules an Irish SIM works across the 27 EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Ukraine and Moldova at home prices, within fair-use limits.
